East Dundee Fire District, Pumper

The Fouts Four is allowing customers to change their fire based EMS responses. A Fire Department is able to respond to EMS calls without mobilizing high cost/ high maintenance apparatus. The benefit is that the Fouts Four has an NFPA certified 1500 GPM pump with 300 gallons of water, a booster reel, 200′ crosslays, a real hose bed, basic ladders, a one touch foam system, and an integrated bumper winch. On top of that, it has a rescue style of body that allows for adequate equipment storage. There is plenty of room for extrication equipment, fire hose, and basic necessities to get started on most emergency scenes.

With the modern fire service running approximately 60-70 percent, or more, EMS calls it allows the fire department to leave the big truck back at the station but doesn’t leave responding crews unprepared for second and third calls. This has been the problem identified with simple EMS only response vehicles that are designated to carry basic EMS gear and personnel. The Fouts Four has plenty of equipment to get a good start or to actually mitigate these incidents without a reduction in staffing or service. With a price tag that is often far less than half of the cost of a traditional custom chassis pumper, it makes the decision far easier.

The Fouts Bros. Story

In 1952, CJ Fouts and his brother, Jerry, established the Fouts Bros. Sinclair Service Station in Smyrna, GA. When Fouts Bros. Fire Equipment opened in 1990, it specialized in small, custom trucks and used tankers. Fouts Bros. has since developed a reputation as a premier provider of affordable fire equipment.

Fouts Bros introduced an industry-best, standardized commercial tanker and made it scalable and customizable to meet department needs and expectations. New standard product lines, including tankers, pumpers, brush attack trucks, and the Fouts FOUR, came next.

In 2019, the headquarters and main production facility moved to Milledgeville, GA. This allowed for production lines for the 7,500 trucks the company produces annually. Today, Fouts Bros. remains family-owned and operated with second and third-generation family members involved in day-to-day operations.
